  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

I do like the photos...so peaceful and welcoming.

Regarding the missed b-day of the blog and not blogging as much as you'd like--well, sometimes life just gets really hectic and crazy 'til something's got to give. Your priorities were correct. Now that school is over, well, it's a whole 'nother ballgame. Ease into your new freedom. Recuperate...

Beautiful photos, Claire!

I cannot *believe* it's been a year already since you were in Ireland. My God. Time flies. I remember you writing about it like it was yesterday. Man!

And......Happy Blogoversay!! I didn't remember mine this year either. I blame aging brain cells and an extreme case of indifference. lol

The photos suggest so much quiet, vast space.
You do wonderful work, Claire, and shouldn't worry about missing this or that or not posting as often as you might like.
Losing your stuff, though! That's a shame. And I find "backing up" so daunting that I try to convince myself I don't care about the stuff on my hard drive--not that much.
What a lie! All my stories are on my hard drive. Tomorrow, I'll back them up. Really.
